About the webinar

Freight vehicles are a key segment in the global contribution to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They are responsible for 2.6 gigatonnes (Gt) of CO2 emissions, or 7% of energy-related emissions (IEA, 2017). 76% of the 165 NDCs submitted involve transportation as a source of mitigation (SloCat, 2018). Strengthening NDCs will require an effective approach to the sector.

Understanding how different cost-saving measures can work is key to monitoring cargo operations and analyzing where efficiencies can be achieved. It is key to increase knowledge and understanding of the importance of the different tools in a holistic manner.

Three projects will be presented on this topic. First, the low-emission freight transportation program EcoLogistics of the organization Local Governments for Sustainability-ICLEI and its initiatives in Colombia and Argentina. Then the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy of Mexico will explain the strategies they are implementing for sustainable logistics programs, pioneers in Latin America. Finally, the fuel saving measures implemented by the logistics operator Zarcam, founding partner of the Intelligent Transport Program in Argentina, will be presented. The webinar will be in Spanish. Camila Chabar

 

She has a postgraduate degree (MBA) in Economics and Business from UFSCAR and a degree in International Relations from PUC-SP, with an extension in Sustainability and Social Responsibility from FGV -SP. For three years, she assumed the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development of a city in the interior of São Paulo, with actions granted by the state government for the elaboration and implementation of public policies for sustainable local development. She is currently Climate Change Coordinator at ICLEI South America.

Francisco Javier García Osorio

 

He has worked as a researcher, consultant and production planning engineer, and is a professor at UNAM and Universidad Marista. He has more than 25 years of experience in the area of energy saving and efficient use of energy. In his positions as Director of Energy Saving in Transportation, Director of Energy Supply and Demand Management, and in his current position as Director of Mobility and Transportation of CONUEE.

Ernesto Tentori

 

He is the Head of the Integrated Management System of Zarcam, which is a Logistics Operator in Argentina that provides, among other services, transportation of dangerous and general goods. He is a founding partner of the Intelligent Transportation Program in Argentina. He trained as a Systems Analyst. He represents Zarcam in the Zonal Committee of Hygiene and Safety Zarate-Campana, the Program for Responsible Care of the Environment (PCRMA), the Observatory of Logistics and Sustainability (OLS) and Friends of Sustainable and Safe Mobility.
