About the webinar
The transport sector is responsible for 23% of total energy-related CO2 emissions. According to a SLoCaT report, the freight segment increased its emissions by 75% between 2000 and 2015 and is expected to continue to increase. The covid-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of transportation by reinforcing growing trends in e-commerce demand.
At this meeting, the progress of the Decarbonization of Transport in Emerging Economies (DTEE) project with a focus on Argentina will be presented. The DTEE is a joint effort between the International Transport Forum (ITF) and the Wuppertal Institute (WI) that aims to help national governments and stakeholders identify transport measures and establish pathways to reduce their emissions and meet Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
A virtual conference will be held in July 2020 to continue discussions on road, rail and inland waterway transportation, among others. The dialogue will emphasize strategies to build resilience and reactivate the economy in the context of the impacts of covid-19. For more information click here.
