Os governos estaduais e regionais estão em uma posição única para acelerar a ação climática. Eles trabalham em um nível que permite ações mais rápidas e maior experimentação do que os governos nacionais. Eles podem apoiar os governos nacionais no cumprimento de suas metas climáticas e dar-lhes confiança para ir mais longe e mais rápido. Para as empresas, o compromisso dos estados e das regiões lhes dá a certeza de que precisam fazer investimentos e o resultado combinado é uma mudança definitiva na narrativa, que mostra que a transição para uma economia de baixo carbono não só é possível, mas já está acontecendo.
Este webinar apresentará a Coalizão Under2, que é um grupo de governos subnacionais comprometidos em limitar o aumento da temperatura global bem abaixo de 2ºC. A coalizão reúne mais de 220 governos, que representam mais de 1,3 bilhão de pessoas e 43% da economia global. O Climate Group é a secretaria da Coalizão e é responsável por gerenciar as atividades da Coalizão e realizar suas três áreas de trabalho: Roads to 2050, Transparência e Política. Além disso, ouviremos três exemplos de governos que são muito ativos na Coalizão e compartilharão suas experiências em fazer parte da Coalizão.
