O acordo climático de Paris codificou a pressão sobre os países para reduzir suas emissões e as empresas estão cada vez mais sob o mesmo foco de atenção de investidores, acionistas, funcionários e clientes para reduzir sua pegada de carbono, demonstrando que seus modelos de negócios estão alinhados com a disposição de baixo carbono. Além disso, muitos consumidores na América Latina querem comprar produtos mais ecológicos e investir em projetos sustentáveis. Porém, até agora, apesar dos enormes avanços tecnológicos, tem sido difícil monitorar e reduzir nosso impacto no planeta.
Blockchain é o nome de um livro-razão digital no qual as transações (geralmente feitas com "tokens" ou uma criptomoeda) são registradas cronológica e publicamente. Essa tecnologia pode ajudar a financiar, desenvolver, monitorar, relatar e verificar ações climáticas. Por exemplo, a tecnologia blockchain pode ser aplicada a créditos de carbono para criar uma "moeda de carbono", porque eles são baseados em dados, dependem de várias etapas de aprovação e existem separadamente dos impactos físicos com os quais se correlacionam.
Este webinar apresentará uma visão geral do Blockchain, incluindo criptomoedas e contratos inteligentes, como ferramentas para financiar, desenvolver, monitorar, relatar e verificar projetos de mudança climática. He was an international consultant in ECLAC, working in the Division of Sustainable Development and Human Settlements, the Division of Statistics and Economic Projections and the Division of Natural Resources and Infrastructure. He was coordinator of the BIEE Regional Program. Her research focused on renewable technologies and on quantifying investment needs to reach the country targets for renewable power generation.
