Peer-to-peer session for Evaluation Guide on Transformational Change: Assessing the Transformational Impacts of Policies and Actions

16 August 2022
9:00-10:30 hrs Peru

Presentation

Introduction to the event

To meet the 1.5°C targets of the Paris Agreement and those of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a systemic shift away from carbon-intensive models is necessary. In this context, the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) has developed the "Assessment Guide on Transformational Change"to help understand the relationship between policies and actions and their expected or achieved transformational impact. A transformational change is one that is fundamental and sustained to a system that disrupts established carbon-intensive practices and contributes to a low-carbon society.

In order to increase the accessibility of the guides in Spanish-speaking countries, especially in the Latin America and Caribbean region, the guide has been translated into Spanish and a webinar on August 2 and a deepening session on August 9. At the last event, the steps of the guide were presented in detail and its possible uses were explored.

Objective of the event

  • That the target audience learns more about the experiences by applying the guide.

Expected results

At the end of the workshop, attendees are expected to take away the following:

  • Theoretical and practical understanding of the Climate Action Transparency Initiative's (ICAT) Transformational Change Assessment Guide.
  • Understanding of how to evaluate the impact of policies and actions in relation to their transformational potential. Understanding of how it could be used in the particular cases of the participants.

Participants

  • Current and potential users of the guides (particularly in those countries where the guides are not being used):
    • Public sector: Ministries and sub-national governments
    • Private Sector
    • Civil Society
    • Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
    • Consultants working directly with governments
    • Academia (especially those institutions that tend to work with governments)
