About the webinar
Since its inception, LEDS LAC has had as one of its thematic priorities the participation of the private sector in the design and implementation of resilient and low-emission development strategies. At the end of 2017, the climate governance component of the EUROCLIMA+ program carried out a reflection process together with the member countries of the program to focus cooperation efforts, with emphasis on the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Among the challenges identified were the creation of spaces for dialogue between the private and public sectors for the analysis and shared design of policies and instruments with the sectors.
Taking into account this challenge and the coincidence in terms of priorities, EUROCLIMA+ through GIZ as one of the implementing agencies of the Climate Governance Component, is collaborating with the LEDS LAC Secretariat and the CLACDS of INCAE Business School, in the facilitation of a Community of Practice in which government representatives, private sector and other actors from 9 Latin American countries participate, to exchange experiences and strengthen capacities on the creation of mechanisms to articulate the participation of the private sector in the formulation and implementation of climate policies.
This webinar will present the results of the discussions among participants at the Community of Practice Kick-off Workshop, which took place in Chile at the end of July, as well as Chile's experience in using public-private agreements for the implementation of its climate policy instruments, and AED's perspective on the importance and challenges associated with creating spaces for dialogue and collaboration between the government and the private sector throughout the process of climate policy formulation and implementation.
