About the webinar

Distributed Generation offers grid users the possibility of generating their own electricity through renewable energies and injecting their surplus into the grid. This decentralized generation scheme is being implemented by more than half of the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and has several benefits beyond savings in energy consumption, such as the diversification of the energy matrix, the creation of new jobs, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the development of new business models, among others.

The Climate Change Management Support Project, within its Pilot Interventions component, analyzes the feasibility of the mitigation option "Distributed Generation with Solar Panels" and its potential application in the Arequipa region of Peru. This option was selected due to its high social impact and the opportunity it represents given the solar potential of southern Peru, the penetration of solar photovoltaic technology in Arequipa and its successful application in other countries in the Latin American region (LAC).

This webinar will discuss the opportunities presented by distributed generation for Latin America and the Caribbean and lessons from a practical experience in Arequipa, Peru. The webinar will be held at Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org.
