About the webinar

During the regional meeting of the Euroclima+ program in Chile from October 11-13, 2017, representatives of Latin American governments participating in the program expressed the need for robust, well-built and practical systems for monitoring and evaluating climate policies and action plans. These systems are key to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of adaptation and mitigation processes, incorporating new information and lessons learned, as well as to verify and report in a transparent manner on compliance with the commitments made before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Paris Agreement and other multilateral agreements.

In response to this need, FIIAPP, as one of the implementing agencies of the Climate Governance Component of Euroclima+, with support from the Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC) and the Secretariat of the LEDS LAC Platform, organized a Regional Workshop in Mexico City, Mexico, from April 16 to 18 of this year, as a space to share experiences, promote inter-institutional coordination and strengthen communication channels between representatives of the institutions in charge of climate policy and those in charge of monitoring climate change, from April 16 to 18 of this year, as a space to share experiences, promote inter-institutional coordination and strengthen communication channels among representatives of the institutions in charge of climate policy and those responsible for monitoring and evaluating public policies in general, from 17 Latin American countries.

This webinar will present the main results of the exchange that took place in the framework of the Workshop and the progress made by Mexico and Paraguay in structuring institutional arrangements and developing tools for the monitoring and evaluation of their mitigation and adaptation policies, plans and projects. The webinar will be held at Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org.
