About the presentation

Honduras is currently building its first long-term national energy policy through a participatory process that has involved more than 700 specialists and experts in various topics related to the Honduran energy sector. This process coincides with the updating and strengthening of the country's NDC and the development of the national decarbonization plan. Bioenergy plays a key role in this new policy and energy framework because of its potential to improve the living conditions of Honduran households and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Among the actions related to this issue, the Secretariat of Energy (SEN) is working on the construction of a National Biogas Program and the promotion of the sustainable use of firewood.

In this session, Cristian Irías and Jorge Cárcamo, energy sector specialists from Honduras, will present details on the country's bioenergy potential and how the national energy policy is considering boosting its production and sustainable use in the future.

The presentation will be in Spanish, with simultaneous translation into English. Participants will be able to ask questions and make comments in either language. If you need additional information, please contact Katherine Bocanegra kbocanegra@libelula.org.pe.
