About the webinar
The Paris Agreement sets the goal of keeping the average global temperature increase well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and striving to limit it to 1.5°C. As part of the Agreement, nearly every country in the world has submitted Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets through 2030. Previous research has found that achieving such stringent temperature targets could involve premature depreciations or retirements of carbon-intensive assets, known as asset stripping.
This webinar explores the issue of stranded assets in Latin America and the Caribbean that could result from the implementation of policies and measures under the Paris Agreement. The assessment employs the Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM), a multi-scale global and multi-sectoral human-physical earth system model with regional detail in LAC.
The webinar will be held at English. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: [email protected].
