Sustainable Development Impact Assessment Guide: Assessing the environmental, social and economic impacts of policies and actions.

28 June 2022

Presentation

Introduction to the event

The challenges of climate change are interrelated with those of sustainable development. This means that policies or actions should be designed to achieve, at the same time, the objectives of these two challenges. This comprehensive approach would help countries achieve the goals of both the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda.

In this context, the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) has developed the "Sustainable Development Impact Assessment Guidance"to help assess the impact of policies and actions in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This assessment would allow the SDGs and climate goals to be integrated into a unified process. For example, it would be possible to identify and report Sustainable Development benefits within the actions taken to meet the NDCs.

In order to increase the accessibility of the guidelines in Spanish-speaking countries, especially in the Latin American and Caribbean region, the guidelines have been translated into Spanish and this webinar is an opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of applying the guidelines.

Objective of the event

Raise awareness among stakeholders as to why the application of this guide is important.
