Introduction to the event
The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) has developed the Sustainable Development Impact Assessment Guidance to help assess the impact of policies and actions in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This assessment would allow the SDGs and climate goals to be integrated into a unified process. For example, it would be possible to identify and report Sustainable Development benefits within the actions taken to meet the NDCs.
In order to increase the accessibility of the guides in Spanish-speaking countries, especially in the Latin American and Caribbean region, the guide has been translated into Spanish and a webinar was held on June 28. This event presented the benefits of aThe main features of the guide as well as its applications were presented by Fatemeh Bakhtiari, senior researcher (UNEP CCC). After the webinar, we explored the interest of the participants in attending an in-depth session in which the guide and the process of applying it would be presented in more detail, answering different questions, such as How long does it take to implement the guide and what resources are needed to implement it? In addition, it is intended that interested people learn about the ICAT.
Objective of the event
- That the target audience knows in more detail how they can apply the guide and that in the future, it can be more widely used in the LAC region.
Expected results
At the end of the workshop, attendees are expected to take away the following:
- Theoretical and practical understanding of the Climate Action Transparency Initiative's (CTI) Sustainable Development Impact Assessment Toolkit.
- Understanding how to assess the impact of policies and actions in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- In addition, participants will take away a document prepared by LEDS LAC with key messages and elements of the session that will allow them to continue learning.
