About the webinar
In 1992, during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Canada invited countries to implement the Model Forest as a new approach to land management and created the International Model Forest Network. The Model Forest is a concept for landscape management that focuses on people working in partnership, with a common vision of sustainable human development, in large territories with different land uses and values, where the forest ecosystem plays an important role.
At that time, several regional networks were born, including the Ibero-American Model Forest Network (IAMFN), which currently links 32 territories in 15 countries in Central and South America, the Caribbean and Spain, covering more than 30 million hectares. The network provides support to its members for the dissemination and transfer of their best activities and practices on the good management of forests and natural resources, the scope of financial sustainability, as well as the contribution to processes that promote the formulation, implementation and evaluation of public policies related to sustainable development.
In this webinar we will share the experience of IAMFN and two of its members in strengthening governance for the sustainable management of forest landscapes. The webinar will be held at Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org.
