About the webinar
We are at a key moment for countries to take action towards increasing the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Under the terms of the Paris Agreement, countries will have until 2020 to reassess their climate plans and commit to a level of ambition that will prevent global warming above 1.5°C.
This webinar, co-organized by LEDS LAC and the NDC Partnership, is the second in a series of six webinars focused on reviewing and increasing the ambition of climate commitments. This time, we will focus on identifying, through country experiences, possible linkages between the NDC cycle and the continuous improvement of national MRV systems for greenhouse gas emissions and removals.
The objective of the webinar is to facilitate understanding of the Katowice Climate Package and Parties' communication and reporting obligations under the Paris Agreement, as well as to share information on the modalities, procedures and guidelines for the implementation of the transparency framework. We will explore some of the challenges for developing countries and learn about Chile's experience developing its national greenhouse gas inventory. The webinar will be conducted in Spanish. Su propia agenda de investigación se centra en decisiones efectivas de uso de la tierra y la asignación óptima de los recursos de la tierra para un desarrollo sostenible y eficiente. Fue coordinadora del Programa ONUREDD en la FAO (2011-2015) y Oficial Superior en la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas para el Cambio Climático (CMNUCC), apoyando las negociacions sobre agricultura, temas forestales, el uso de la tierra, el cambio de uso de la tierra (AFOLU) y REDD+ hasta 2011. Antes de 2007, fue Directora del Programa de Contaminación del Aire y Química Atmosférica en el Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterráneo y asesora del Ministro de Medio Ambiente de España y miembro de la Junta Ejecutiva de Mecanismos de Desarrollo Limpio de la CMNUCC en 2006-07. Fue autora principal de las Pautas para el inventario de GEI y del Cuarto informe de evaluación del Panel Intergubernamental para el Cambio Climático y se le otorgó junto al colectivo, el premio Nobel de la Paz en 2008 por sus contribuciones al Panel. Actualmente, se desempeña como jefa del Departamento de Mitigación e Inventarios de Emisiones de la División de Cambio Climático en el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente de Chile (MMA), donde coordina la elaboración de los informes Bienales sobre Cambio Climático y el plan de implementación de los compromisos de Chile bajo el Acuerdo de París. Pertenece a la Lista de expertos de la CMNUCC. Su experiencia está en la reducción de emisiones de GEI de las políticas públicas, el análisis prospectivo de los escenarios; MRV de acciones de mitigación, entre otros. Se graduó de la Universidad de Santiago en 2006, donde estudió Ingeniería civil geográfica. De 2007 a 2010, trabajó en temas de contaminación atmosférica en la Comisión Nacional del Medio Ambiente (CONAMA). Desde 2010, ha formado parte del equipo de cambio climático en el MMA.
