About the webinar

The Paris Agreement aims to keep the temperature increase below 2.0°C, closer to 1.5°C. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) 1.5°C Special Report on Global Warming refines the message of its 5th Assessment Report: large-scale carbon removal must be part of the global effort to achieve net-zero emissions. To stay within the 1.5°C threshold, this has to happen within the next 30 years. Compatible scenarios involve a combination of biological and/or technological Large-scale Carbon Removal (CDR) processes. The report recognizes that all of these techniques still involve uncertainties around feasibility, sustainability and represent significant governance challenges.

The webinar will provide an overview of the IPCC's key findings regarding large-scale CDR techniques, their governance challenges, all in relation to low-emission development strategies. The webinar will be conducted in Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org.
