About the webinar
Air quality is an urgent issue in the Latin American and Caribbean region. Around 90 000 premature deaths per year are caused by air pollution and more than 39 000 people die prematurely due to diseases related to intra-wall pollution. This, coupled with the impact that some pollutants have on climate change in the short term, makes action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) imperative and strategic for the region.
This webinar aims to present the perspective of CCVC policies and actions in the LAC region. Seven countries in the region are already part of the CCAC and participate in the 11 different sectoral and cross-cutting initiatives. As part of the activities, the summary for decision-makers of the first Integrated Assessment of CCVCs for LAC was presented last month; for the first time, information generated in and for the region is available for strategic decision-making. Examples of leadership in the design of policies that integrate long- and short-term mitigation actions exist in the region and are a global reference.
The webinar will be conducted in Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat: info@ledslac.org
