About the webinar

The Distributed Generation presents the possibility for network users to generate their own electricity through renewable energies and inject their surplus into the grid. This model of decentralized generation has been implemented by more than half of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean and presents several benefits beyond the savings in energy consumption, such as the diversification of the energy mix, the creation of new jobs, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the development of new business models, among others.

The Project to Support Climate Change Management, within its component of Pilot Interventions, analyzes the feasibility of the mitigation option "Distributed Generation with Solar Panels" and its potential of application in the region of Arequipa in Peru. This option was selected because of its high social impact and the opportunity it represents given the solar potential of southern Peru, the penetration of solar photovoltaic technology in Arequipa, and its successful application in other countries of the Latin American region (LAC).

This webinar will discuss the opportunities presented by distributed generation for Latin America and the Caribbean, and the lessons from a practical experience in Arequipa, Peru. The webinar will be held in Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the Secretariat of the LEDS LAC Platform: info@ledslac.org.
