The LEDS LAC 2023 Regional Workshop is the ninth annual regional face-to-face meeting organized by the LEDS LAC platform in its 11 years of operation. As in past events, the 2023 workshop seeks to contribute to the transition towards resilient and low-emission development in the countries of the LAC region, recognizing that the development and implementation of the commitments made in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement (Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Long Term Climate Strategies (LTS) and National Adaptation Plans of Action) are tools that open an opportunity to mainstream climate action in the sustainable development agenda of the countries.
The LEDS LAC 2023 Regional Workshop is being held this year in Lima, Peru, hosted by the Directorate of Climate Change and Desertification (DCCD) of the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) and framed within Peru's Climate Week.
The LEDS LAC 2023 Regional Workshop is co-organized by the LEDS LAC Secretariat, the DCCD/MINAM and the Inter-American Development Bank with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Euroclima program, the NDC Partnership and the Organic Recycling project and in partnership with Avina and the Resilience Hub.
What concrete progress are we seeing in LAC (in different actors) in generating conditions and mobilizing resources for climate action?
How does it align with climate commitments and the sustainable development agenda?
How is compliance monitored and tracked?
Where are the main needs to accelerate transformation (governance, implementation, follow-up and monitoring, financing)?
What opportunities do we identify to increase ambition? to replicate or scale up initiatives? to collaborate among different stakeholders?
LEDS LAC is a network of organizations and individuals working in the promotion, design and implementation of LEDS in Latin america and the Caribbean.
