About the webinar

Freight vehicles are a key segment in the global contribution to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They are responsible for 2.6 gigatonnes (Gt) of CO2 emissions, i.e. 7% of energy-related emissions (IEA, 2017). 76% of the 165 NDCs presented involve transport as a source of mitigation (SloCat, 2018). Strengthening NDCs will require an effective approach to the sector.

Understanding how different savings measures can be worked on is fundamental to monitoring freight operations and analysing where greater efficiency can be achieved. It is key to increase knowledge and understanding of the importance of the different tools in a holistic manner.

In this sense, three projects will be presented in the thematic area. First, the low-emission freight transport programme, EcoLogistics of the organisation Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) and its initiatives in Colombia and Argentina. Then, the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy of Mexico (CONUEE, for its acronym in Spanish) will explain the strategies they are implementing for sustainable logistics programs, pioneers in Latin America. Finally, the measures implemented for fuel saving by the logistics operator Zarcam, founding partner of the Intelligent Transport Program in Argentina, will be presented. The webinar will be held in Spanish language. For additional information, please contact the LEDS LAC Platform Secretariat at info@ledslac.org.
