The Raw Materials and Climate Project -MaPriC- implemented by GIZ in Colombia and Chile on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) of the Federal Republic of Germany, aims to develop and complement existing regulations in Colombia and Chile to reduce the environmental impact caused by the extraction of raw materials. At the same time, generate strategies to increase resource efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental regulations and their effectiveness.
Based on the concept of climate-smart mining as proposed by the World Bank, MaPriC proposes an innovative approach to modern, cleaner extraction of raw materials with less impact on the climate, the environment and society.
