There is a growing demand for climate transparency information in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). With the approval of the Katowice rules at COP24, several countries in the region have sought to strengthen their information systems with international support. The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) has been one of the most active initiatives in this area. ICAT's mission is to help countries to better assess the impacts of their climate policies and actionsand help them meet their climate commitments. To date, ICAT has developed a variety of tools and methodologies for this purpose; and in LAC, projects have been implemented in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru.

From the wide range of tools that ICAT offers to the public, three cross-cutting impact assessment guides have been selected. Thus, together with the LEDS LAC platform, the following guides were translated into Spanish and disseminated through a series of virtual events:

These guidelines have been developed to assist policy makers and other users in assessing the impacts of climate policies and actions. In the public sphere, these methodologies can play a key role in providing the reliable information needed for effective policy making, implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), preparing reports for the Paris Agreement's Enhanced Transparency Framework, and reporting on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, other non-state actors can also use the guidelines to assess their own actions.

Despite the popularity of these guidelines, their adoption has been limited in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) because the guidelines were only available in English. The translation of these guidelines into Spanish will increase the potential for their adoption and use in a greater number of countries. In addition, to further enhance their use, three events per guide were held: a webinar, an in-depth session and a peer learning session. Altogether, the nine events were attended by almost 500 participants.
