About the webinar

Long-term low emissions development strategies (LTS) are a crucial policy tool that can help place short-term actions in the context of the long-term structural changes needed to transition towards a low-carbon, resilient economy by 2050. Moreover, they can help to explore the consequences of policy choices in terms of integrated socio-economic objectives. These strategies will play an important role in guiding countries toward limiting warming to 1.5-2°C above pre-industrial levels and enhancing of nationally determined contributions (NDCs).

As countries develop their revised NDCs, aligning near-term NDC goals with long-term planning instruments will enable them to avoid short-term investments and decisions that may lock them into undesired pathways (WRI 2017). This webinar will focus specifically on the benefits of aligning short and long-term planning and the specific ways in which partners and member countries have approached this. The webinar will be held in Spanish. If you have any questions, please write to the LEDS LAC Platform at info@ledslac.org.
