About the webinar
Agricultural activity is responsible for 14% of global emissions according to the 4th IPCC Report (2007). The livestock production sector is a major contributor to this figure, and efforts for a more sustainable activity have grown in the region.
To achieve low-emission livestock farming, it is crucial to first understand the sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals related to this activity, in order to design and implement best practices and monitor the results achieved.
In this webinar we will first learn about the current livestock farming context and the importance of a more sustainable livestock farming. Then we will learn about two cases of important efforts to achieve this goal. The first one will focus on the accounting of both emissions and capture of greenhouse gases in the livestock sector and the elaboration of GHG balances as a result. The second one consists of a national project for the implementation of good livestock farming practices that potentiate the reduction of emissions and increase their removal with the goal of achieving a sustainable livestock activity.
