As in previous workshops, discussions were held to build knowledge about “how to” move forwards the implementation of low emission and climate resilient development strategies and mitigation actions associated with these strategies.
The workshop provided a forum for officials of the Latin America and the Caribbean, international organizations, technical experts and other stakeholders who shared experiences and best practices, participated in training, built bridges of cooperation and work, and found innovative ways to progress in the implementation of LEDS that are also resilient to the impacts of climate change.
The workshop was organized by the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism of Dominican Republic and LEDS LAC Platform, along with CAF Development Bank of Latin America ande the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). It had the support of the World Bank and the European Union through the EUROCLIMA program.
Participation:
- 146 participants
- 33 countries (South America 30%, North America 25%, Center America 19%, Caribbean 14%, Other regions 12%)
- 40 panelists and speakers
- 24 iniciatives presented at the Marketplace
- 73 virtual participants
- Promote the implementation of strategies for low emission and climate resilient development through the exchange of approaches, experiences, knowledge and good practices between experts of the LAC region and the world, related to the topics prioritized by the platform.
- Socialize and strengthen ongoing initiatives related to the implementation of low emission and climate resilient development strategies, through the exchange and learning between projects and professionals (peers) and promoting networking spaces.
- Promote the services of the platform, take advantage of the offers of specialized services from the global working groups and seek synergies with other initiatives.
- Start the process of defining work priorities for LEDS LAC during 2016.

- Cost and Benefits Assessment, and Economic Impacts Assessment of LEDS Strategies

- The Green Climate Fund as a catalyst for public-private partnerships
- Marketplace (market-like space for participants to share with other participants their projects, initiatives and ideas.)
Day 2. Implementing LEDS: private sector involvement and innovative financial and economic instruments
- Promoting private sector participation in the formulation and implementation of LEDS
- Economic and financial instruments for the implementation of LEDS
- Linking levels and sectors to implement LEDS (urban transport, urban planning / development, housing)
- Open space. Sessions convened by participating organizations
- Knowledge sharing clinics
- Identification of priorities for LEDS LAC for 2016.
