About the webinar

Green bonds are investment instruments that have the primary purpose of financing mitigation or adaptation to climate change projects. Operation is simple: the investor delivers a quantity that in the medium to long term will be reimbursed plus a determined benefit (bond). The difference is that green bonds are labeled to shortlisted climate projects.

The market has grown exponentially in recent years and issued a total expected for 2016 that will double the number of 2015. The Paris Agreement also provides a promising framework for this instrument. It is expected that nationally determined contributions in the Paris Agreement will boost investments by governments and companies in large-scale climate projects, while no economic returns are slaughtered, providing fertile ground for the issuance of more bonds of this type.

In this webinar the conceptual foundations of green bonds were known. We also met the experience of Mexico –who has emitted three green bonds- in the development and implementation of this instrument. The webinar was held in Spanish.
