About the webinar

In 1992, during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Canada invited countries to implement the Model Forest as a new approach to land management and created the International Model Forest Network. The Model Forest is a concept for landscape management that focuses on people working in partnerships, with a common vision of sustainable human development, in large territories with different uses and values of land, where the forest ecosystem plays an important role

At that time different regional networks were born, including the Ibero-American Model Forest Network (RIABM), which nowadays links 32 territories in 15 countries across Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Spain, totaling more than 31 million hectares. The RIABM supports its members through the dissemination and transfer of best practices and activities about responsible forestry and natural resource management, ensuring financial sustainability and contributing to processes that drive the formulation, implementation and evaluation of public policies related to sustainable development.

In this webinar we will share the experience of the RIABM and two of its members in strengthening governance for the sustainable management of forest landscapes. The webinar will be held in Spanish. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the Secretariat of the LEDS LAC Platform: info@ledslac.org.
