It is easy to join the LEDS LAC Platform. Membership is voluntary, cost-free, and unlimited in duration. Membership is open to organizations, individuals and governments working to promote LEDS within Latin America and the Caribbean.

We encourage both individual membership to join the community of LEDS practitioners and organizational membership to share information on and foster collaboration with activities of your organization.

To become member and join multiple other organizations and individuals already engaged in the Platform, you must first review the Operating principles of the Platform and indicate your acceptance of these principles.

1. Benefits

Benefits of joining LEDS LAC:

  • A network for regional peer exchange, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration on LEDS;
  • Receive E-newsletters and other updates on LEDS topics and best practices;
  • Access to training, technical assistance, capacity building, and other in-person and online resources on key LEDS topics;
  • A way to leverage resources and promote synergies – avoiding duplication of efforts;
  • Engaging in shaping the vision and activities of this dynamic and evolving partnership, which is becoming the go to place for LEDS learning, innovation, and acceleration action

By becoming a member of LEDS LAC you also become a member of LEDS GP and gain access to the following benefits:

  • Participate in topical working groups and events to engage in peer learning and collaboration on climate resilient low emission development. For a full list, please accesshttp://ledsgp.org/about/how
  • Access advisory services on topics such as: finance, LEDS analysis, energy, transportation and waste measures.

2. Roles of the members

We encourage LEDS LAC members to:

  • Share information, experiences, and lessons on LEDS initiatives and activities;
  • Participate in and/or lead activities supported by the LEDS LAC Platform including workshops, webinars, and other forums and actively seek to apply learning from these activities to your LEDS-related work.
  • Conduct outreach to broaden awareness, participation, and support for LEDS LAC activities and initiatives
  • Review and provide feedback on the LEDS LAC activities, products and services.
  • Collaborate on resources development and improvement.

3. Membership Process

4. Our guiding structure: The Latimer House Principles

The Latimer House Principles provide a guiding structure for activities of the LEDS Global Partnership, and all its Regional Platforms. All members are requested to agree to the following principles for the partnership:

Principles Relating to LEDS Content and Approaches

  • Place development priorities first and design LEDS activities to advance climate-compatible development, including enhanced climate resilience
  • Ensure that LEDS support is country-led and builds lasting capacity in partner institutions.
  • Integrate LEDS with current sectoral development programs.
  • Encourage broad stakeholder engagement in LEDS processes, including a range of government departments, the private sector, and NGOs.
  • Design LEDS to accelerate and scale up flows of private and public investment in development priorities.

Principles Relating to How the Partnership Functions

  • Enable the exchange of and engagement with diverse perspectives.
  • Tap the power of collaboration as a force multiplier in achieving common goals.
  • Recognize and support developing country leadership.
  • Foster open peer to peer learning and exchange, including sharing and collaborating on development of methods and tools, and delivery of training, and technical assistance.
  • Encourage and support innovative approaches to climate compatible development, including consideration of new methods, broader dialogue with new players, experimentation, and incorporation of lessons learned.
  • Build complementary linkages with current related activities and programs.
  • Promote cooperation and learning at regional and sectoral levels in addition to a global forum.
  • Establish relationships with international business and investment groups, donor programs, and NGO networks that can be sources of support for implementation of LEDS.

5. LEDS GP and Regional Platforms Data Consent Agreement

If you choose to become a member of the LEDS Global Partnership, and it´s Regional Platforms the terms and conditions of how your data is processed are outlined in this page.

We will use your personal data to send you email newsletters and information about workshops, webinars and other events organized by the LEDS GP, its Regional Platforms and Working Groups. Emails will be sent by our service provider (Mailchimp) or directly by the LEDS GP Global and Regional Secretariats and Working Groups.

Your data will also be used for the administration of the LEDS GP, Regional Platforms and Working Groups, and for reporting to members and donors.

Your personal data will be stored by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the United States, on behalf of the LEDS GP. If you choose to join a LEDS GP Regional Platform or Working Group, your data will be exchanged with the organizations hosting the relevant secretariat(s).  These are as follows:

  • Transport Working Group: World Resources Institute
  • Subnational Integration Working Group: Scott Muller
